About Us

River City School of Irish Dance is a non-profit organization run by a volunteer parent board. The school contracts Rachelle Lien as our TCRG (certified instructor). Membership is open to any youth dancer age 5 and older.

The School promotes awareness, understanding and love of Irish Dance by offering instruction to children and teenagers, providing them with the opportunity to publicize and celebrate this traditional Irish art form.

Our goal at River City School is to teach your child to Irish dance to the best of his/her ability while having a fun and memorable experience. Small class sizes allow for individualized instruction with a focus on proper form and technique.

It is truly marvelous watching our young people develop and display not only their skills but also their self-confidence through public performance and solo and team competition.

Our dancers participate in Feis (Irish Dance competitions) in Western Canada and nationally. Lessons are held twice a week for all dancers. The school also participates in periodic dance performances in a variety of venues (eg. Children's Discovery Museum, senior's homes, hospitals, schools) and high profile public performances including FolkFest and Saskatoon Festival of Trees. The school has also performed at the Lieutenant Governor's Centennial Gala, Sundog Arts & Entertainment Faire, IrishFest and Dare to Dance.

Benefits of Irish Dance include:

  • Opportunity to develop new physical and mental skills
  • Increased physical fitness
  • A healthy competitive spirit
  • Growing confidence and self esteem
  • Lasting friendships and memorable experiences
