Rachelle Lien is the principal instructor for the River City School of Irish Dance in Saskatoon. She has been a registered TCRG (certified Irish Dance Teacher) since 1992 and is also a member of An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha, the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America and The Western Canadian Irish Dance Teachers Association.
Rachelle began dancing at the age of seven and enjoyed much success competing at regional national competitions as well as performing at a number of memorable events; the most exciting of these perhaps being the performances at the Saskatchewan Pavilion at Expo’86 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Lack of a registered teacher in the city of Saskatoon shortly after that time, resulted in Rachelle making the decision to change her role in the world of competitive Irish Dance. She had spent many years assisting with the instruction of younger dancers in the school and decided to become appropriately accredited in order to keep the spirit of competitive Irish dance alive in the city of Saskatoon.
During her time as a TCRG, Rachelle has had many dancers compete successfully at local, regional and national feisanna. In addition to this, her dancers have had many opportunities over the years to perform with entertainers such as The Chieftans and Colin Dunne of Riverdance, with whom they were also given a workshop opportunity. They have also been invited to perform for events such as the Centennial Gala for the Queen.
When she is not at the dance studio, Rachelle can be found teaching mathematics to high school students at Nutana Collegiate.
